Commission decided Tuesday night that the famous Little Richard Penniman House will be relocated.
The home on Fifth Avenue West will be moved just across the street. It will also be renovated and turned into a historic site.
Commissioner Elaine Lucas says they hope that the home will bring people from all over Georgia.
"There is a plan to spruce that house up, to turn it into sort of a tourist attraction. Then the neighborhood program is going to maintain and to staff that house,” says Lucas.
Also, a construction contract for a fire station set to be built on Jeffersonville Road will be discussed next Tuesday by the commission. They hope to contract International City Builders Incorporated for $1,848,000. That money will come from SPLOST funds.
