Quinceañera Fashion show kicks off in Macon as part of Hispanic Heritage Month celebrations

The show was the last big event of Hispanic Heritage Month, and showcased beautiful gowns and Quinceañera traditions.

MACON, Ga. — Folks in Macon had the opportunity to learn more about Quinceañeras and the traditions associated with them as part of Hispanic Heritage Month, which lasts from September 15 to October 15.

The celebration focuses on he contributions and influence of Hispanic Americans to the history, culture, and achievements for the United States. 

On Saturday, the first ever Quinceañera fashion show was held at the South Bibb Rec Center, and featured beautiful gowns.

A Quinceañera is celebrated when a young woman turns 15, and includes a large party, big beautiful gowns, and lots of food and dancing.

There were models from several different areas showcasing their dresses, like Mexico, Puerto Rico and Panama, and also some young ladies from Hunt Elementary showing the American side to it.

There were several vendors there as well to promote their dress wear and accessories, like jewelry, fancy hats, flowers, and more.

Food stands and refreshments were also available for attendees. 

The event lasted from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
