HAWKINSVILLE, Ga. — A Pulaski State Prison employee was arrested and fired for allegedly having sexual relations with an inmate, the Georgia Department of Corrections confirms.
Alonzo McMillian and another prison system employee, Edwin Clark, were fired by the Department of Corrections on May 2. McMillian worked at Pulaski State Prison, and Clark worked at Lee Arrendelle State Prison.
"The vast majority of our staff are dedicated to their oath of protecting the public and any who do not live up to this oath - regardless of rank - are terminated immediately and prosecuted, as evidenced by these two terminations," Director for Public Affairs for the GDC Joan Heath said.
The arrests were first reported by the Atlanta Journal Constitution.
According to the newspaper, Clark was a lieutenant at Arrendelle and McMillian was a deputy warden for administration at Pulaski State Prison.
We have asked the Pulaski County Sheriff's Office for the mugshot of McMillian, but we are waiting to hear back.
