The prosecution will seek the death penalty for the Telfair County man accused of killing an elderly couple back in January.
That's according to Telfair District Attorney Tim Vaughn.
He said he filed notice of intent Monday in the case against Jay Towns, who is charged with murder and armed robbery in the deaths of Bud and June Runion.
Investigators say the Marietta couple traveled to Telfair to buy a car advertised online. The couple was found in the woods. Both had been shot in head, investigators said.
Vaughn said Towns' first proceeding will likely happen in 30 to 60 days.
