Macon-Bibb Planning and Zoning approved a proposed solar farm on Fulton Mill Road on Tuesday.
The lot is around 37 acres. According to the proposal, 14 acres will be reserved for the solar panels, while the rest will serve as a 50-feet buffer zone for the surrounding community.
The project is slated to have 3,700 solar panels total.
The proposal was put in by SolAmerica Energy.
SolAmerica's proposal said the plant will be in operation 24 hours a day. No personnel is needed for daily operations, but a small crew is needed for upkeep. Noise levels will not reach above 40 to 60 decibels, or just above talking level.
The project will be a part of Georgia Power's Renewable Energy Development initiative. In the past, SolAmerica partnered with Georgia Power on 27 projects.
The lot is located at 4641 Fulton Mill Road.
