MACON, Ga. — Several reports of power outages came in on Sunday morning across Milledgeville and several other central Georgia areas impacted by severe weather and tornado warnings.
At one point the Georgia Power Outage map showed nearly 6,000 customers were without power around Baldwin County.
Outages were widespread around Georgia College & State University, as well as downtown Milledgeville.
They happened near the North Columbia Street Business District, Jefferson Street, and Atrium Health issued a statement saying the hospital there is operating on back up power.
“At approximately 7:40 am, Atrium Health Navicent Baldwin did receive damage by the severe weather. Patients, visitors, and teammates were sheltered safely during the storm. The hospital is currently running on backup power, which allows us to safely care for all in the facility," the statement said.
The same system that went through Milledgeville also left more than one thousand customers without power in Hancock County at one point.
There were a few outages in Bibb County, as well as in Gray. A few patches near Forsyth and Sparta also popped up with outages.
