DUBLIN, Ga. — A man who was arrested and charged with murder for allegedly shooting and killing his uncle is saying it was self-defense.
That's according to Chief Tim Chatman with the Dublin Police Department.
He says witnesses on scene say there may have been a verbal argument between 26-year-old Davion Thompkins and his uncle. While he's claiming self-defense, Chatman says they ended up charging him with murder.
The fatal shooting happened early Sunday morning near Marcus and Joiner Streets. Officers found James Thompkins lying on the ground outside his home. The report says he was shot twice, in the arm and leg.
Davion is being held without bond in the Laurens County Jail, and Dublin Police say the case is still under investigation.
