Volunteers serve free breakfast to kids in Macon's Pleasant Hill neighborhood

Volunteers with the Breakfast Club served up pancakes, eggs, sausage, and oatmeal to kids Saturday morning.

MACON, Ga. — Kids in Macon's Pleasant Hill neighborhood enjoyed some free breakfast Saturday morning.

Volunteers with the Breakfast Club served up pancakes, eggs, sausage, and oatmeal to children.

During the breakfast, kids also got to hang out with some Macon-Bibb County firefighters. Afterwards, they went home with a book and some school supplies.

Bill Howell helped organize the event. He says the team of volunteers fed about 60 kids.

"It's just a great thing we do for the community. It feels good to know that this may be the only meal these kids get today, and we feel good doing it," Howell said.

This is the second Breakfast Club event that Howell and volunteers has held so far.

Howell says he hopes to continue the Saturday breakfast in the future and possibly hold two a month.
