Perry kicked off the holidays with a Gingerbread Village: A Sweet and Merry Christmas Parade

The parade started at 10 a.m.

PERRY, Ga. — The City of Perry kicked off the holiday season with a Gingerbread Village: A Sweet and Merry Christmas Parade on Saturday.

The parade started at 10 a.m. There were more than 80 floats featuring representatives from the community in Perry.

Frank Lester said the parade is good for kids and they always love seeing Santa Claus and Mrs. Claus.

"I think it was great to see Santa Claus, Mrs. Claus, the kids were very excited to be here and I was excited," he said.

He said it was a little worried about the rain but that didn't stop him from coming out and trying to have a good time.

The parade began on Kellwood Drive and then turned right onto General Courtney Hodges Boulevard. The route continued to Macon Road via Carroll Street.
