WARNER ROBINS, Ga. — If you're still not in the Christmas spirit this season, a show at Warner Robins Little Theatre promises to fill you with a sense of wonder.
"BELIEVE" is a magic show hosted by Warner Robins native Evan Dupree. He's been on a magic tour for the past few years and is back to perform a show in his hometown.
He says he was first inspired to do magic when he was 8-years-old and saw David Copperfield make the Statue of Liberty disappear.
"I was hooked, that's when the magic bug bit and ever since then I've taken the art and added storytelling, music and making it into a true art that needs to be recognized today," he said.
Dupree's newest show centers around the magic of Christmas time and his childhood.
"Christmas time is all about the love and the joy between us and family and, to me, it's not about the presents or the shopping spree, it's all about what comes from the heart and coming together and sharing peace, love and joy," he said.
Dupree plans to take audience members on a trip down memory lane while also showing some fantastic illusions along the way.
"We're going to be doing a lot of exciting illusions, however, it's going to be in the format of a play," he said. "It's different. It's not something you're accustomed to seeing in a magic show,"
Dupree says as much as he loves creating illusions for people to be amazed by, he also loves being able to move audience member's hearts during his shows. He says it's a great feeling seeing people's faces during a show when they see something that wows them.
"There's a difference, of course, between being amazed and having wonder. And when someone has wonder, they start thinking well wait a minute, if that is possible then I wonder what else is possible," he said. "It starts challenging your thinking."
Dupree says if you are a budding magician or illusionist, take time to practice and be patient with yourself on your journey.
His show, BELIEVE, is on Thursday and Friday at 7:30 p.m. There will be prize giveaways for Wheel of Fortune LIVE and more during the shows. Some proceeds from the show will also go to support for the Children's Hospital in Macon.
The show is suitable for magic lovers of all ages! You can get tickets on the Warner Robins Little Theatre website.
