Pedestrian killed on Mercer University Drive identified

The Bibb County Sheriff's Office says it happened shortly before 8:30 Saturday night

MACON, Ga. — A woman is dead after she was hit while crossing the street in Macon on Saturday night.

The Bibb County Sheriff's office says the 67-year-old woman was hit while crossing Mercer University Drive at Bloomfield Road shortly after 8:30.

They say a 19-year-old man struck the woman in the right lane.

She was taken to Atrium Health Navicent where she was pronounced dead. No one else was injured.

Coroner Leon Jones has identified the woman as Anthonette Williamson.

The incident is still under investigation. Anyone with information is asked to call the Bibb Sheriff's Office at 478-751-7500.
