Peach Schools' exhibit showcases educational artifacts of county's past

The exhibit is called "Our Story." It sits in the Peach boardroom at the new Board of Education building, which is the old Peach County High School.

PEACH COUNTY, Ga. — The Peach County Board of Education is calling on alumni and families of Fort Valley and Byron to add to a very special collection.

Earlier this year, the board found a new home at the old Peach County High School on Campus Drive.

What used to be the library at the school is now the official boardroom, but the artifacts are displayed on shelves in the room known as "Our Story."

That is where the board hosts their Tuesday board meetings that are open to the public and displays some historical artifacts from Peach County High and other schools around the county.

Minnie Booker is the administrative assistant to Superintendent Lionel Brown of Peach County.

She says they're excited to see the history of Peach education come to life.

"To collect those artifacts and create a history and legacy at the new Peach County Board of Education is for the people of Peach County," Booker says.

Booker also said if you have artifacts you would like to donate to the board, you can reach out to her at mbooker@peachschools.org

The board also says they're looking for artifacts from Peach County Schools before 1971.
