Texas family adopts three brothers days before Christmas

"Today feels like a dream but it's really not. It's happening. And it's real this time," said Everett, the oldest of the brothers.

COLLIN COUNTY, Texas — The Kimballs have been anxiously waiting a long time for the Dec. 20 court date in the 269th Collin County courtroom. Finally, on Wednesday they were able to make their adoption of three brothers official.

"Just nerves," Scott Kimball said. "It's just hitting me now, everything," he cried.

Three brothers, Everett, Elijah and Ezra, have been featured on WFAA's Wednesday's Child. The children told WFAA's Cynthia Izaguirre they dreamed of a forever home.

On Dec. 20, Collin County Judge John Roach presided over making the adoption official.

"Ya'll are some special people... angels walking on earth," said Judge Roach.

The brothers had been in foster care for roughly three years. They had been in the custody of the Kimballs since the middle of the year.

"It's overwhelming and a blessing... ecstatic to finally be done. They make me smile every day and laugh a lot!" said Kimball.

The once-Kimball family of four this Christmas and everyone after will be a family of seven.

"Today feels like a dream but it's really not. It's happening. And it's real this time," said Everett, the oldest of the brothers.
