MACON, Ga. — Another big Hollywood movie is planning to shoot in Macon soon, and there's a familiar face to 13WMAZ viewers in the director's chair.
According to a casting notice from Tammy Smith Casting in Atlanta, the movie "Hillbilly Elegy" will film in Macon for about 10 days this summer.
According to IMDb, the movie is based on a book by the same title. It is set to star Glenn Close and Amy Adams, and will be directed by Ron Howard.
Fans of "The Andy Griffith Show" on 13WMAZ know Howard as Sheriff Andy Taylor's son Opie. After his success there he also starred in the 1950s-based comedy "Happy Days." Howard eventually moved into directing. His list of hit titles include Apollo 13, A Beautiful Mind, Far and Away, Backdraft, and Cocoon. His films have won numerous awards, including Oscars.
There's no release date set for the film yet. The casting notice promises more information on specific shoot dates will be coming in "the next day or two".
