One person dead, another hurt after crash in Macon

Tucker Road is closed and traffic is backed up in the area.

MACON, Ga. — A driver is dead and another is in the hospital after a crash on Tuesday in Macon, according to Coroner Leon Jones.

He says it happened at the intersection of Tucker and Foster Road around 2:30 p.m.

The driver of a Chevy Impala hit a BMW convertible head-on.

Robert Wayne Howard - the 66-year-old driver of the Impala - was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the BMW, a 22-year-old woman, was taken to the hospital. 

She is in critical condition, according to Jones.

Tucker Road was briefly closed, and traffic was backed up in the area while police and emergency services cleared the scene. The area is now clear.
