HANCOCK COUNTY, Georgia — An officer was arrested for bringing clothes into Hancock State Prison, according to a release from the Georgia Department of Corrections.
Officer Jehan Landau reported to work on January 8 with one pair of white socks, a pair of men’s underwear, a pair of multi-colored shorts and a sweatshirt.
It was deemed to be contraband and Landau was arrested by the Hancock County Sheriff’s Office and was taken to the Hancock County Jail.
13WMAZ has reached out to the Georgia Department of Corrections and the Hancock County Sheriff’s Office for additional information.
It was part of four different arrests in Georgia prisons for contraband so far in 2024 including others at Hays State Prison, Smith State Prison and Calhoun State Prison.
Calhoun State Prison on January 1: They found a duffle bag full of contraband and arrested Kendrick Thomas and Montavius Warren.
Smith State Prison on January 1: Alexis White, a visitor, had 3 pieces of paper were folded inside a napkin, tied together with two rubber bands and wrapped in a plastic bag. White was taken into custody by Glennville PD.
Hays State Prison on January 7: They found contraband inside officer Nicholas Grindle's locker. This included: 7 vape pens, a vape bottle, a wireless ear bud, 20 charging cables, five charging blocks, 14 cell phones, 222 grams of marijuana, and 760 grams of methamphetamine. Officer Grindle admitted to attempting to bring contraband to an offender. He was arrested by the Chattooga County Sheriff's Department and escorted to Chattooga County Jail.
