Oak Ridge Boys vocalist Joe Bonsall passes away at 76

Bonsall passed after complications with ALS.

HENDERSONVILLE, Tenn. — Joe Bonsall, a longtime member of The Oak Ridge Boys, has passed away.

Bonsall was 76 years old and died from complications of ALS. He retired in January after battling the neuromuscular disorder for more than four years.

Bonsall was a member of the Grand Ole Opry, inducted into the Philadelphia Music Hall of Fame, the Gospel Music Hall of Fame, the Vocal Group Hall of Fame and the Country Music Hall of Fame.

"Joe loved to sing. He loved to read. He loved to write. He loved to play banjo. He loved working on the farm. And he loved the Philadelphia Phillies. But Jesus and his family always came first—and we will see him again on the Promised Day," The Oak Ridge Boys website said regarding Bonsall's death.

Bonsall requested no funeral and his family is asking for privacy.
