No, job listings do not confirm plans to build a Costco in Macon

Recent job listings suggest a popular warehouse club is coming to Macon, but they do not necessarily prove one is coming to town.

MACON, Ga. — Recent job postings from Costco for Macon have some viewers wondering if it's proof the warehouse club is coming to Macon.  Are they related to the proposed Riverside Centre Development that Macon-Bibb County's Planning and Zoning approved?

Question: Do the job postings confirm plans to build a Costco in Macon?

Answer: The job listings do not confirm plans to build a Costco in Macon.

What We Found

The same job postings on ZipRecruiter are also on Costco's career website. The job location listed on the website is on Ivey Drive, West Macon. That's across town from the location for the unnamed warehouse club coming to North Macon.

The company listed at the Ivey Drive location is Good Guy Moving and Delivery. They told us they are hiring but it's for positions related to delivering Costco products.

The closest Costco is in McDonough, Georgia, which is about 60 miles from Macon.

What does this mean? Costco members in central Georgia can order from the Costco website and have their item(s) delivered to them through the moving and delivery company.

Macon-Bibb District 1 Commissioner Valerie Wynn says no word is coming to the location near River Crossing.

"I can't tell you that there's even going to be a warehouse there. I know that it's a retail center for shopping and there is going to be a big box that we call it, that's supposed to be one of the stores there. There's no confirmation of who that is. There's no signed contract with anyone for that," Wynn said.

We reached out to the city for comment and they sent us a statement saying,

"We’re in regular talks with national companies to locate here in Macon-Bibb County, including different grocery, wholesale, entertainment, and restaurant options.

In fact, we recently joined with the Industrial Authority, Urban Development Authority, Chamber of Commerce, NewTown Main, and Visit Macon to partner with Retail Strategies to actively recruit retail that will benefit the entire county.

When a new retail outfit makes the final decision to join our community, we will stand with them for that exciting announcement."
