WARNER ROBINS, Ga. — Before the end of this year, you’ll have a new place to work out and play ball in Warner Robins.
Six months after the city broke ground on the 67-acre North Houston Sports Complex, the project is starting to take shape.
"I mean, the progress has really come along pretty good," said Jeremy Bennett, the Executive Director of Healthcare for Parrish Construction Group.
He says the project will cost about $17 million.
The progress so far is enough the make Gary Palmer pull over to look.
"I heard they were building a sports complex over here," said Palmer.
He wanted to check out the features, hoping to find a pickle ball court.
"Looks like it’s going to be a fantastic facility, though."
The plan is to have four baseball fields and basketball courts, eight volleyball courts, three multipurpose rooms, two fitness areas, and a raised track.
"We’re about 80 percent with the site work package complete. We’ve got half the building slab poured, we’ve got structural steel showing up here in about three weeks, so we’re progressing nicely," said Bennett.
At the end of December, they poured about 590 yards of concrete onto the site.
That's about 60 truckloads.
"We feel comfortable with having this thing done by the end of 2020," said Bennett. "It’s a state-of-the-art facility. I mean, there’s nothing like it that I’m aware of this side of Atlanta."
