WARNER ROBINS, Ga. — Warner Robins mayor and city council opened its first meeting in 2020 with new council members.
Houston County Superior Court Judge Edward Lukemire swore in Councilmen Charlie Bibb for Post 2, Kevin Lashley for Post 4, and Larry Curtis for Post 6.
"I never in a million years thought I would be here, but here I am, and it's awesome to serve my city," said Bibb.
Lashley shared that excitement. Both councilmen said they'd like to take a closer look at the city's spending.
"I want to focus in on the problem areas, the areas of concern that we've had. Development authorities, anywhere in the HR departments," said Lashley.
Curtis says he looks forward to creating opportunities for troubled youth.
"Getting our kids off the street and just really really improving and focusing on recreation," said Curtis.
Lashley says he wants to see harmony between mayor and council moving forward.
"There are going to be disagreements, but how we handle those disagreements as grown adults is what's going to set the difference," said Lashley.
The city hosted a reception to celebrate the new council members after the meeting.
Each councilman will serve a four-year term.
