Neighbors relieved after Wyoming fugitives captured in Monroe County

They were found wearing all camouflage lying face down by a pond in a wooded area.

MACON, Ga. — People in Monroe County are relieved after law enforcement captured two Wyoming fugitives. Kimberly Belcher and Richard Fountaine were spotted in Monroe County on Wednesday. Since then, it's been a constant search to find them.

Ronnie Williams likes watching nature by his pond, but Friday just before 1 p.m., he says police surrounded the pond looking for Wyoming fugitives Richard Fountaine and Kimberly Belcher.

"I'm just glad that they didn't get in my house. We've never had anything like this happen around here before," said Williams.

Lieutenant Chad Beck with the Monroe County Sheriff's Office says both fugitives were wearing all camouflage and hiding out before law enforcement found them.

"They were on Highway 42N at Johnstonville Road at the intersection in a wooded area beside a pond," said Lieutenant Beck.

Lieutenant Beck says even though they were face down in the woods, informants in the community helped deputies with tips on where to find them.

"It's been pretty difficult for the last two days. It's been an all-day and all-night affair," said Beck.

He says the sheriff's office is relieved they are both in custody. Williams says he still can't believe Belcher and Fountaine were so close to his home.

"From all the way up in Wyoming and wind up in Monroe County down by my pond, it's mind-blowing," said Williams.

Lieutenant Beck says he doesn't know why the two were in Monroe County or where they were headed. The sheriff's office is investigating to see if anyone helped Belcher and Fountaine. Lieutenant Beck says both people could face additional charges.
