WARNER ROBINS, Ga. — A 20-year-old man is dead after being shot by Warner Robins officers Monday night, according to a release from the Georgia Bureau of Investigation.
The Georgia Bureau of Investigation said his name is Mikhal D'Anthony Concepcion from Byron.
The shooting happened in the 200 block of North 6th Street in Warner Robins.
Three WRPD officers are on leave, according to the GBI. No officers were injured.
People living in the neighborhood recall what sounded like "fireworks" that turned out to be gunshots.
It was a series of gunshots between Warner Robins police officers and 20-year-old Concepcion, according to the GBI.
Neighbors couldn't tell 13WMAZ much about Concepcion, aside from what they heard last night.
Some neighbors, like Bianca Copeland, were on the way home from work when they saw commotion in the neighborhood.
A few neighbors said the road between Marshall Avenue and Young Avenue were blocked off.
Copeland said she had to walk home from her Uber across the street from where the shooting happened.
"I live right here by city hall, the police department's right down the road," the mother of three said. "I didn't think something like this would happen."
The WRPD office is about half a mile from where the shooting happened.
When she arrived home, Copeland said her 11 and 3-year-old were huddling in their bedrooms when she found them.
"I see my daughter, and she was like, 'Mommy, I'm scared!'" Copeland said. " ... I'm asking her what's going on, they're saying they heard gunshots, and my baby, she's saying she heard like 10 gunshots."
After asking her daughters about what they witnessed, Copeland said she asked officers on the scene about what happened.
"[They told her] it was like an active shooting, saying pretty much, 'It was like a warzone' out here," Copeland said.
At least three WRPD officers were involved in the shooting, according to the GBI.
However, neighbors told us they weren't the only ones there, and there were at least a dozen officers at the active scene.
In addition to seeing WRPD, several neighbors told us there were Houston County Sheriff deputies, GBI agents, and the Georgia State Patrol.
The GBI said Concepcion is from Byron and he died at the hospital Monday night.
