About 200 people started their weekend checking on their wellness at Family Fun Day at the Peyton Anderson Forum. It's an event offered by Navicent Health that provides free health screenings- like body mass index, blood pressure... and prostate cancer screenings.
Aimee Clance is an oncology nurse at the Peyton Anderson Cancer Center. She says that she is hoping this program will help people who can't normally pay to get these screenings.
“It's free. So our patients who unfortunately don’t have a primary care doctor, or don't have insurance, can come and get those free screenings so we can catch those early. The earlier the things are caught, the better they are, both for cancer and for blood pressure to prevent things from later on in life,” said Clance.
This was the second year that the event was held. Clance hopes it will return next year.
