People in Monroe County encouraged to conserve water due to extreme heat

Central Georgia temperatures may rise close to 100 degrees this weekend
Greg Tapley and Alan Gibbs continue their campaigns for the June runoff. The two candidates were only separated by less than 100 votes.

MONROE COUNTY, Ga. — With temperatures rising to nearly 100 starting this week, the Monroe County Board of Commissioners and the water system management firm is urging people to conserve water.

They're saying people should water their lawn or plants only between 4 p.m. and 10 a.m.

For those using water outside for another purpose, like power washing or washing cars, the county announced a daily schedule.

People that live at odd-numbered addresses can water on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Sundays.

Those that live at even-numbered addresses water on Mondays, Wednesdays and Saturdays.

The county said people in the city of Forsyth are already under similar restrictions.

We called county commissioners how the restrictions will be enforced. They've not returned our phone call.
