KATHLEEN, Ga. — If you love a good yard sale with a good purpose, you might want to listen up.
The MOMS Club of Warner Robins is hosting their annual yard sale, and Friday was their first day.
100% of the proceeds will go to the families of two little girls in Warner Robins both facing medical hardships.
The MOMS Club is spreading the word in hopes of making a change in these kids' lives.
The two-day yard sale has a wide range of items like furniture, baby gear, seasonal decorations and clothes.
However, there is more to it.
Aurora is five years old and was diagnosed with B-cell Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia last fall.
She is now in remission, but has two more years of active treatment and is currently undergoing chemotherapy.
Hazel is one year old, born with Dandy-Walker Syndrome and diagnosed with oral-facial-digital syndrome type one.
Hazel has to go to consistent checkups and MRIs to make sure her brain is developing on time.
Sara Fowler is the president of the Warner Robins chapter of the MOMS Club.
"It's really important to be a part of something that's bigger than ourselves and to build up our village," Fowler said.
Fowler says Aurora and Hazel are near and dear to her heart. One of the girls is a distant relative of a club member and the other girl goes to school with a club member's child.
Due to the personal connection, this was a no-brainer when it came to who they wanted to donate to.
"Two little girls with medical issues just hits home as a mom," Fowler said. "I do have two children and they are the same age... I have a five-year-old and a one-year-old so the idea that either of my children could be in this position really hits home and so I'm excited to help out these girls and their families."
Bianca Mcrory is the mother of one-year-old Hazel.
"She is a happy, healthy baby for what she has going on with her," Mcrory said. "She is just like every other baby and we're just kind of on her timetable. She is delayed but that's okay, she's doing it on her own and she has the sweetest personality and we just love her so much."
Bianca says Hazel has to see a specialist four times a week and has already had a couple of surgeries, including brain and hand surgery.
"She is missing the corpus callosum that connects the two hemispheres of the brain and then her cerebellum is also smaller because of a cyst in the back of her head," Mcrory said.
Bianca says although Hazel is delayed in her development, the funds can take care of bills and help both Hazel and Aurora live their best lives.
"I heard that they were going to be donating half to Hazel and then to Aurora and it's just overwhelming to have support from the community," Mcrory said.
If you missed the yard sale on Friday, you can still catch them on Saturday, May 4th.
The yard sale is located at St. Patrick's Church in Kathleen, and they will be there from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m.
If you cannot make it, they are accepting donations through PayPal at momsclubwrpay@gmail.co
