MACON, Ga. — Nothing satisfies more on a hot day than a nice, cold serving of ice cream. It’s a chilling and refreshing way to beat the heat during the sweltering summer heat.
But on Thursday, Dairy Queens across Central Georgia are helping kids beat cancer as part of the annual Children’s Miracle Network’s Miracle Treat Day.
The effort – dating back to 1984 – is celebrating its 40th anniversary.
At participating U.S. locations, at least $1 from each Blizzard sale will be donated to the local children’s hospital. Here in Central Georgia, those funds go to Atrium Health Levine Children’s Beverly Knight Olson Children’s Hospital in Macon.
Last year, Macon area Dairy Queen stores raised more than $128,000 for the children’s hospital, and those donations go towards funding “critical treatments, health services and pediatric medical equipment,” Atrium said in a statement.
