Milledgeville Police investigate deaths of 2 people found in home

Police say the cause of death is unknown, and the investigation is ongoing. Neighbors said they think it could have been murder.

MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. — A welfare check Thursday morning in Milledgeville led to a police investigation after officers discovered two bodies inside a home, according to a Facebook post from the Milledgeville Police Department.

They say officers responded to the residence on the 200 block of Roberts Street around 9:25 a.m. and found two bodies: one in the living room and another in the hallway.

Police say the cause of death is unknown, and detectives are processing the scene.

The bodies have been sent to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) crime lab for further examination, according to an official.

Neighbors are on edge, fearing the deaths might be homicides. One neighbor, who said she wasn’t home at the time, expressed similar concerns.

"Everyone is on pins and needles because we are trying to figure out what is going on," Kimberly Grant said. "This street right here is usually quiet. So everyone here is on pins and needles. We just wanna know what happened."

Another resident who knew one of the deceased said she was close with one of the deceased.

"We knew the lady because she used to come out and talk to us. She used to check on us. I really think some — someone did something."

Cleanup crews were seen switching shifts as the investigation continued, and crime scene tape remained around the property hours after officers arrived.

The neighborhood is anxiously waiting for answers, with many residents speculating about what might have happened.

"It was three people living in the house at the same time. Ain't no way those two died and he didn't," Keymoria Miller said. “It's sad what happened to them. I hope they get justice for their name.”

Milledgeville Police Major Linc Boyer said the investigation is ongoing. The Milledgeville Police Department said they will provide updates as the investigation progresses.
