Milledgeville car dealer arrested for forgery, fraud

Bill Kent of Kent Auto/Kent Motors on North Columbia Street in Milledgeville has been arrested on multiple counts of fraud and forgery.

Milledgeville police said they launched an investigation in August about Kent's business practices. Police said their investigation revealed fraud and forgery concerning the sale of vehicles by Kent.

Police received their evidence from banks, individuals and the Department of Revenue, according to a Milledgeville police news release.

Kent was charged with 18 felony charges and nine misdemeanors, police said.

Theft by Conversion:

Victim: NextGear Capital, Inc

2008 Nissan Sentra; 2010 Hyundai Accen; 2009 Nissan Versa; 2009 Nissan Altima; 2003 Ford Expedition; 2005 Dodge Ram; 2010 Chevrolet Impala.

Theft by Deception:

Victim: TD Auto Finance: 2005 Kia Sorento; 2008 Volkswagon Jetta

Endangering security interest Charges:(9 counts): One count for all the above listed case numbers in reference to each vehicle.

Title fraud (3 counts): Two counts of title fraud, one for each of two different title applications submitted to the Department of Revenue in reference to the Cheverolet Impala.

One count of title fraud for the fraudulent Georgia Title submitted to the Department of Revenue in reference to the Cheverolet Impala.

False swearing: (3 counts): Two counts of false swearing, one for each of two different title applications submitted to the Department of Revenue in reference to the Cheverolet Impala.

One count of false swearing for the fraudulent Georgia Title submitted to the Department of Revenue in reference to the Cheverolet Impala.

1st degree forgery charges (3 counts)

Two counts of 1st degree forgery, one for each of two different title applications submitted to the Department of Revenue in reference to the Cheverolet Impala.

One count of 1st degree forgery for the fraudulent Georgia Title submitted to the Department of Revenue in reference to the Cheverolet Impala.
