A man died during a home invasion in McRae overnight on Sunday.
A GBI news release says the call came in just after midnight about a home invasion and shooting on Bowen Street in McRae-Helena located in Telfair County.
When agents arrived, they found Damien Burch, 28, dead from gunshot wounds. Nattiyana Hudson, 20, was also shot in her right arm and treated at Dodge County Hospital in Eastman.
Burch was at the home earlier that day and left to go to his own home. Later, he came back and entered the home on Bowen Street without permission and got into an altercation with Hudson, who resides at the home, and a guest, Lenworth Welsh II, 23.
During that altercation, Welsh shot Burch and left the scene.
Welsh was interviewed by Agents and the District Attorney for the Oconee Circuit DA’s Office will be investigate to determine if any charges will be filed.
The incident is still under investigation by the GBI.
