CORDELE, Ga. — A man was shot multiple times in Cordele according to a post from the Cordele Police Department Facebook page.
The post says the shooting happened around 2:53 p.m. on Sunday in the 1100 block of South 7th Street.
When officers arrived they found a man with multiple gunshot wounds and immediately began administering life-saving measures.
Witnesses were able to describe the suspect and the car he fled from the scene in.
An off-duty officer spotted the car while listening to their radio and hearing the 911 dispatchers lookout message.
Crisp Counties deputies spotted the car driving into Worth County on Highway 300 South and attempted a traffic stop, the post says.
They say the suspect did not stop until he struck a light pole and was caught.
The suspect was identified as 27-year-old Sylvester Smith of Albany, Ga.
He was arrested without incident.
Sylvester Smith is facing two counts of aggravated assault with more charges pending.
