Body recovered after man reportedly drowns at Amerson River Park in north Macon, BSO says

The man, 26, was swimming Sunday afternoon before he went below the water and did not return to the surface

MACON, Ga. — A drowning victim was found between Amerson River Park and the Spring Street Landing near the 75-16 Interstate split.

The man has been identified as Daniel Romain. He was a New Jersey native, and an active member of the Air Force.

He reportedly drowned at Amerson River Park in north Macon, according to a Bibb County Sheriff's Office press release.

The release said the man, 26, was swimming sometime Sunday afternoon before he went under the water and did not return to the surface.

A call was made around 1 p.m. 

The release said Emergency Personnel from the Sheriff's Office, Macon Bibb County Fire Department and members of the Georgia Department of Natural Resources are searching for him at this time.
