CEDAR GROVE, Ga. — A man was shot by a Laurens County deputy on Thursday after stabbing somone according to a press release from GBI.
The press release says around 10:20 p.m. the Laurens County Sheriff's Office got a call about a domestic dispute at a home in the 2000 block of Sudie Pearl Jones Road.
When the deputy got there, 31-year-old Curtis "CJ" Glen Purvis Jr., was no longer there.
While the deputy was talking to the victim, who was an acquaintance of Purvis Jr., Purvis Jr. drove up, hit another car and the victim's father with his car.
The responding deputy fired shots at the car before it hit the father, the release says.
Purvis Jr. then got out of his car, entered the home and stabbed the victim.
The release says when Purvis Jr. came out of the house with a knife the deputy shot him.
He was pronounced dead at the scene. His body will be taken to the GBI Medical Examiner's Office for an autopsy.
The stabbing victim and the father were taken to a hospital for treatment.
No deputies were injured.
Laurns County Sheriff Larry Dean requested the Georgia Bureau of Investigation's help with the investigation and the deputy was placed on administrative leave in accordance with Laurens County Sheriff's Office policy.
