MACON, Ga. — After a four-day trial, a man has been convicted on a pair of Macon homicides that happened eight days apart in 2022, according to a release from the Macon Judicial Circuit District Attorney’s Office.
Brian Greene was found guilty of the murders of Glenn Eugene Stevens and Elijah Rasheed. The murders happened in March 2022.
Both victims were strangers to Greene, according to the release.
Stevens was on a first date when Greene attempted to rob him and his date while they were sitting in the car listening to music outside a Macon apartment complex on Northside Drive.
Stevens tried to fight Greene off but was shot three times during the struggle with Greene.
His date attempted to save Stevens’ life after calling 911. She was not injured in the shooting. This week, she testified at the trial and was a key witness, according to the jury, according to the release.
Just over a week later, Rasheed was buying ice at the Family Dollar on Napier Avenue with two friends. As they were leaving the parking lot, Greene fired a shot into the car.
The bullet went through the trunk, the rear seat and into Rasheed. His friends were able to get him to a local hospital where he later died.
Investigator believe Rasheed and his friends were targeted by Greene because they were members of the LGBTQ+ community.
Greene was convicted on aggravated assault charges, possession of a firearm during the commission of felony and two counts of murder. Greene will be sentenced at a later date.
“These type of senseless killings have no place in our community. When we have witness and victim cooperation like we did in this case, we have the greatest chance of holding people accountable for their dangerous actions,” District Attorney Anita Howard said. “No one should have to endure this type of fear and pain and trauma. I hope the people of this community understand their power in helping to keep their neighborhoods safe. My office is dedicated to assuring that such crimes are prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.”
