CRAWFORD COUNTY, Ga. — The Crawford County Sheriff's Office has released the name of the man found dead in an embankment off of I-75.
In a media release Friday afternoon, they say that Terlonzo Elwond Martin, 42, of Huntsville, Ala. was found dead on the side of the road.
According to Bibb County Coroner Leon Jones, Martin's body was found in the small portion of Crawford County that touches I-75. He was found next to the northbound side of the interstate.
He told 13WMAZ Thursday that a truck driver was sitting in stand-still traffic. It was then that the driver glanced out the window and saw Martin's body in the embankment.
Jones said that it appeared that Martin's body had been in the embankment for quite some time, and he even said it could have been there for a few days.
The Crawford County Sheriff's Office has requested the GBI's help in investigating Martin's death, the sheriff's office said in the media release Friday morning.
They say that Martin's body will head to the GBI Crime Lab for an autopsy where they will determine his cause of death. The Crawford County Coroner Sheldon Mattox told 13WMAZ that the autopsy is scheduled for Monday.
