Man dead after single-car wreck in Macon

Bibb County Coroner Leon Jones says 27-year-old Joseph Masisak was not wearing a seat belt when he lost control of his car.

MACON, Ga. — A Macon man is dead after a single-car wreck on Friday night.

According to Bibb County Coroner Leon Jones, it happened around 10:30 pm. on Forest Hill Road in north Macon.

According to Georgia State Patrol Trooper Joshua Staff, 27-year-old Joseph Masisak was driving northbound in a 2002 GMC Envy when he lost control of his car and traveled into the southbound lane. He was not wearing a seat belt.

Georgia State Patrol says Masisak swerved back into the northbound lane and rotated clockwise. That is when the car went down a small shoulder and hit a ditch.

The car rolled over and came to an "uncontrolled" rest in the front yard of a house in the 1900 block of Forest Hill Road, according to GSP.

Jones says he was ejected from the car and suffered “massive head trauma.”

Staff says he was taken by ambulance to Coliseum Northside Hospital.

He died there around 11 p.m., Jones says.

Georgia State Patrol is still investigating for more details.
