MACON, Ga. — Cabbage is packed with nutrients and, according to some, it is more versatile in the kitchen than some may think.
But behind Luther Williams Field on Friday, the Mentors Project of Bibb County is handing out heads of cabbage to all who may want it — to the tune of 40,000 pounds, according to an email from the Bibb County School District.
The cabbage giveaway will take place at 11 a.m., the school district says. However, they note that you must bring your own bags and boxes as they will not be provided.
It is unclear where the 40,000 pounds of cabbage is coming from. We tried to get in contact with the mentor's program for more information, but we did not hear back.
So, if you choose to take the Mentor Program up on their offer, here is a story with a slew of recipes you can use with your newly acquired cabbage. Enojy!
According to the Mentor's Project's website, the group offers "role models for encouragement and motivation to eligible Bibb County Public Middle and High School students who need additional support outside their family, and to assist them in reaching their full academic, social, and personal potential."
