Teenage girl arrested in Sandy Circle shooting in South Bibb, sheriff's office says

They say a 17-year-old was arrested and charged with aggravated assault in connection to a shooting Sunday afternoon.

MACON, Ga. — A teenage girl was arrested on Tuesday in connection to a shooting in south Bibb, the Bibb County Sheriff's Office says.

They say 17-year-old Ch'quayla Alvinae Glover was arrested in connection to the shooting, which took place in the 3400 block of Sandy Circle Sunday afternoon. No one was injured.

Glover was arrested while authorities conducted a search at a Laura Ann Place residence. That's off Forest Hill Road in North Macon.

During the search, they found a firearm and ammo at the residence, the press release said

Neighbors in the south Bibb neighborhood described the shooting as an exchange of gunfire in the middle of broad daylight.

They say a car drove by a young man and woman walking together. The woman started firing and the car then shot back.

After the shooting, neighbors said they found almost twenty shell-casings.

While there were no injuries, a home was hit by gunfire, the sheriff's office said.

The sheriff's office says Glover was arrested and charged with two counts of aggravated assault. She is being held without bond.

One bullet hit a house in the neighborhood, and the owner said she was thankful it hit her attic because her great-grandchild was asleep in another room downstairs.

"My neighbor, which was going the opposite direction in her car, she was right there at head level going back the other way when the lady pulled the gun and started shooting. All she had to do was spray in her direction and she would've been dead," neighbor Chris Barfield said.

The neighbors also complained about the wait time. The sheriff's office confirmed it took about 1.5 hours for a deputy to arrive on the scene.

"They know if they come out here, they can do what they want to, and it'll take - they'll be in the next county by the time somebody shows up," Barfield said.

The shooting is still under investigation. Anyone with information can call the sheriff's office at 478-751-7500 or the Macon Regional Crimestoppers at 1-877-68CRIME.
