MACON, Ga. — A series of "aggressive social media posts" between two travel football teams led to gunshots ringing out at Henderson Stadium in Macon, the Bibb County Sheriff's Office says.
They say a brawl happened Oct. 5 at around 6:50 p.m. during a youth football game.
One of the team's coaches was also arrested after pulling out a handgun and shooting into the air during the fight, the sheriff's office says.
The shooting took place after a fight started on the field between people on different sides of the youth game, which prompted security to separate the group to leave the field, the sheriff's office says.
But then a second fight would take place involving players, parents, coaches and cheerleaders.
That's when they say the youth coach from Atlanta, Donta Williams Sr., pulled out a gun and fired shots in the air.
But Sgt. Christopher Williams says that no one was harmed by the gunfire, but there were minor injuries caused during the brawl on the field.
He was arrested and charged with reckless conduct and discharge of a gun by a public highway or street, the sheriff's office says.
Other people involved in the fight were also arrested and taken to the Bibb County jail.
