This fall, there is more than one tackle sport taking place on the field in Central Georgia.
The Macon Love Rugby club is busy scheduling Fall friendlies against other fellow clubs or college packs. The Love currently have 22 players on the team, more than 30 members in the club and have been active in the area since 1999. With the Love's age of players ranging from 18-47, they have a balance of inexperience along with several veterans so they are still busy teaching the game they love on the run.
"It's the ultimate team sport. I mean everybody has to do everything", says Russ Campbell.
Campbell is the club president. "From the smallest to the biggest, you have to carry the ball and you have to tackle somebody and that's what makes it a great sport. Every college on campus has a team now. We're trying to get a high school team started and also a women's team started. We have about 10 high school teams in the state of Georgia and about 20 womens' clubs so there is an interest for both."
If you haven't had a chance to see a rugby match up close and personal, this Saturday you can catch the Love hosting Georgia Southern at Central City Park at 2 p.m.
