MACON, Ga. — Before Sunday, Renee White had been to 57 rallies for former President Donald Trump.
The Newland, North Carolina, native said Sunday's rally at Macon's Atrium Health Amphitheater makes No. 58. She's seen the former president so many times, but one of those rallies is now infamous. White remembers it vividly.
"I believed that we were going to lose him," White said, recalling the July 13 rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, where Trump was shot in the ear. "When he got up, from that moment, I watched him from behind the podium. I watched him from the moment the first bullet came on through. I watched him go to the ground."
White continued going to rallies once Trump recovered. She said being in Macon is her way of celebrating they are both still standing.
"I was on for the fight. I was ready for the battle, and that's what he's ready for," she said. "He's got my back, and that's why when I go to the rallies, I try to sit behind him. I want him to know I have his back."
Outside the rally were some people who have Vice President Kamala Harris' back.
"I'm here to show my support for the candidate that supports freedom," Jaylan Scott said. "The freedom to thrive. The freedom to do whatever you want with your body. The freedom to be able to afford a home."
After the rally, our cameras found Darren Latch. He's originally from Australia, but came to the United States in 2009.
"I think it was fantastic. I think it's exactly what's needed in his rallying call to get out and vote. Everybody get out and vote," Latch said.
