Approximately 200 jobs could be coming to Macon-Bibb County. In a request filed with Planning & Zoning for the county, Carter & Sloope Consulting Engineers and Setzer Properties requested to build a new package delivery distribution center in the I-75 business park.
The official agenda for the Aug. 24 meeting of the Planning & Zoning Commission posted on their website detailed the request by builders.
Details of the plan include construction of a nearly 250,000 square foot facility at 5251 Sardis Church Rd. They also plan to build a more than 1,000 square foot security building on the property.
These buildings would be constructed on a 33-acre plot. In the plan submitted, construction includes more that 400 parking spaces, and dozens of spaces for tractor trailers of various size.
In the project summary builders say the facility would be served by a new driveway and deceleration lane adjacent to Frank Amerson Pkwy.
In paperwork filed builders say they had a pre-development meeting on Jun. 11, with the Planning & Zoning Commission to discuss the details of the project.
Pat Topping with the Macon Economic Development Commission was out of town and could not confirm the plans.
All current projects by Setzer Properties listed on their website are FedEx facilities.
