NewTown announces funeral arrangements for CEO Josh Rogers, scholarship fund for his 7, 10 year old children

After Josh Rogers' death on Sunday, the organization he once ran is stepping up to help support the family he leaves behind.

MACON, Ga. — As NewTown Macon announces funeral arrangements for their CEO Josh Rogers, the organization is also stepping up to support their leader's 10- and 7-year-old kids through the creation of a scholarship fund.

Rogers, who died of a suspected heart attack on Sunday after collapsing downtown, had led NewTown Macon since 2024, helping bring new business to Macon and playing a pivotal role in the revitalization of the downtown.

"Our hearts are with the Rogers family today, as well as with our NewTown Macon and Downtown community, as we grieve the loss of Josh Rogers," Mayor Lester Miller said in a statement. "He was a true champion for our community, always pushing to make life better for all people."

Along with a slew of remembrances recognizing Rogers' efforts to make downtown Macon better, arrangements have been made to remember his life and legacy along with helping support his family.

A memorial service is scheduled for Monday Dec. 2 at 11 a.m. at Willingham Hall on Mercer University's campus, which is across the street from Tattnall Square Park.

Rogers was only 42 years old and left behind his wife, Meaghan. They had two children together, 10-year-old Jack and 7-year-old Ellie.

Mercer University President William Underwood, who chairs NewTown Macon's Board of Directors, announced The Jack and Ellie Rogers Education Fund and asked the community's help in supporting their education.
