MACON, Ga. — As investigators continue searching for the final Bibb County jail escapee, Joey Fournier, the escapees back in custody now face additional charges.
At least three of them already had pending charges. That's why Fournier, Chavis Stokes and Marc Anderson were in jail in the first place. Now, because of the escape, they could all face even more time.
There are two court systems in the case: state and federal. The state charges are all in Bibb County Superior Court, which handles felonies. Stokes, Anderson and Fournier all had open cases there, which means they haven't been convicted.
According to the Georgia Code, all of them would face up to five years in prison for the new charge, if convicted.
Johnifer Barnwell's case is different.
He was already convicted, and just waiting on sentencing. He was also in the federal system, which is where his escape charge is filed.
Melissa Hodges with the US Attorney's Office says he could face up to five years on top of the sentence for his other conviction.
If Barnwell's charges were filed in the state system, the penalty would be up to 10 years. That's because there's a stiffer penalty for people already convicted.
There are also several people charged with aiding and abetting in both court systems.
Janecia Green is already charged in the federal system and faces a maximum of five years. According to the Bibb County Sheriff's Office, she's also charged in the state system, which also carries a five-year penalty.
Jacorshia Smith, Jakaylen Wiliams, Mykia Williams and Tymesha Timley all currently face aiding and abetting charges in the state system. Jakaylen Williams also faces a charge of theft by taking stolen property. That could add up to 20 years to his aiding and abetting charge depending on the price of the blue Dodge Challenger allegedly used in the escape.
The US Attorney's Office says Green and Barnwell both had initial appearances this week. Green faced a federal magistrate judge in Macon Tuesday and was denied bond. Barnwell faced a federal magistrate judge in Augusta.
The US Attorney's Office will not say where he's in custody.
