Do you love to workout, but wish you could swim, bowl, or play racquetball during your trip to the gym?

Middle Georgia State University's Recreation and Wellness Center may be the place for you, but it isn't free.

The 80,000 square foot facility is now open to the public for or a $35 a month fee.

Anyone 18 years or older can join and take advantage of the Macon gym's group fitness classes, bowling alley, pool, racquetball court, basketball court or, heck, even hang out in the food court.

The school's Cochran campus offers the same price per month in addition to an $80 a month membership for families. Right now, the Macon campus doesn't offer the family membership because there's not enough staff.

But Fitness and Wellness Coordinator Harley Miller says he still thinks people will be racing to sign up.

Miller says the decision to make the gym public isn't just to create revenue, but as a part of the school's transition to a university, which became official July 1st.

To become a member, individuals must do the following:

1. Complete an application form.
2. Go to the Bursar's Office to pay (located in the Student Life Center on the Macon campus and in Grace Hall on the Cochran campus).
3. Go to the campus Police Department to get an ID and sign various release forms.

Membership applications and additional details are available at www.mga.edu/wellness/.
