A car was pulled over for a broken brake light. A passenger inside was wanted in a Bibb homicide, sheriff's office says

They say it all started with a broken brake light. But deputies soon realized that one of the passengers was wanted for a Bibb County killing.

MONROE COUNTY, Ga. — A man was arrested in Monroe County Friday after a traffic stop revealed he was wanted in Bibb County for a homicide, according to a press release from the Monroe County Sheriff's Office.

They say the arrest of Jordan Young happened just after 5:00 p.m., on Friday after a deputy noticed a broken brake light on the car he was a passenger in.

They pulled the vehicle over on Georgia Highway 87.

The deputy asked everyone to get out of the car because of "a strong odor of marijuana," which they did, the sheriff's office said.

But when they ran Young's information, the search showed that Young had warrants out of Bibb County for murder, aggravated assault and a probation violation, the press release.

According to previous court filings, Young was indicted in March for the 2022 killing of 22-year-old Tylik Young.

The sheriff's office said at the time that it happened in the 1800 block of Third Avenue, only blocks away from LH Williams Elementary School.

It happened just over a year ago on Dec. 3, 2022.

There are other documents in his court filings that are not public.

In order to get more information on the case, however, the sheriff's office said we would have to wait until Wednesday to get more information from the Macon District Attorney's Office.

Monroe County deputies also arrested his brother, Jalan Young, who had a warrant for failing to appear in court on a larceny charge.

The Young brothers were taken to the Bibb County jail. The driver was issued a warning, and they let him go.
