PIKE COUNTY, Ga. — A Macon woman was arrested after police say she shot a man during a disagreement, according to a Facebook post from the Pike County Sheriff's Office.
They say it happened on Aug. 9 at 118 Live Oak Lane in Pike County. Authorities were called to the home at around 11 p.m. that night.
Macon woman Fay Tompkins, 60, was arrested and was still on the scene at the time, the press release said. They say she was a guest at the home.
The sheriff's office says it appeared that Steven Murry and Tompkins had gotten into a disagreement and she was upset.
After the disagreement, they say Tompkins walked outside and grabbed a gun, returned to the doorway and then allegedly shot Murry while he was inside the home.
According to the incident report, they also believe Tompkins was drunk. It also says Tompkins and Murry were acquaintances.
Tompkins was arrested and charged with aggravated assault and cruelty to children, the press release said. They say two children were inside the home when the shooting happened.
Murry was taken to an Atlanta hospital by helicopter, the press release says.
