MACON, Ga. — The Macon Volunteer Clinic is remembering its founder, Chapin Henley.

Henley - the father of PGA golfer Russell Henley - died on Friday, according to the clinic.

Executive director John McCard said Henley always had a passion for helping others.

"This place was really a passion of his," McCard said. "He was really - by sheer force of personality, and his love for others -- was able to, not only provide healthcare to those in need, but he was able to inspire other healthcare practitioners to give up their time to this clinic."

Henley attended medical school at the University of Florida. He later became an OB-GYN.

Following his retirement, he opened the Macon Volunteer Clinic in 2001. The goal was to provide free healthcare to the county's uninsured working adults.
