MACON, Ga. — If you live in Bibb County, you could be voting in three months on a $450 million SPLOST.

The county commission is scheduled to vote Monday on whether to schedule a March 18 SPLOST vote. Voters will decide whether to renew a penny-per-dollar sales tax that expires this year.

Their proposed question doesn't say exactly what the money would go for, but it gives some possible examples.

They mention potential:

  • road, street and bridge projects.

  • airport improvements

  • public buildings such as a civic center, convention center, coliseum, a new jail or a courthouse.

  • new facilities to process solid waste

  • parks and green space, water and sewage improvement and much more.

If commissioners approve that vote would happen March 18, and that new SPLOST would kick in no later than Oct. 1.
