Opening statements were made early Monday evening in the trial of the Macon man accused of killing his wife last February.
At about 5 p.m., the final jury pool was selected. Prosecutor Johnathan Adams made his opening statement to the jury starting with the line, "If I can't have you, then no one can."
He told jurors Jasento was territorial and indeed shot and killed Bridgette Flowers while in her car on February 22, 2014.
Adams also brought up the Valentine's Day incident where he said Jasento punched Bridgette at the Gray Highway Walmart.
Jasento's attorney, on the other hand, told jurors Jasento is not Bridgette's killer.
J. Travis Griffin from Hogue and Hogue Law Firm said the witnesses, two of them Bridgette's children, created a conspiracy to accuse Jasento of murder.
Griffin said that witnesses will tell the jury during the trial that Jasento rolled down the windows in his BMW, and shot at them.
Griffin says that's not possible because Jasento did not have working windows. He said Jasento loved Bridgette dearly, and doesn't know how she was killed.
Jurors will begin viewing evidence Tuesday morning.
Flowers is being held in the Bibb County jail, accused of murder, aggravated assault and illegal possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
Jasento Flowers was missing for about a week after the shooting.
He's accused of wounding two other people that night.
The Bibb County Sheriff's Office also says Flowers beat his wife at a Macon Walmart about a week before the shooting.
Earlier this year, Sheriff David Davis told 13WMAZ's Sophia Danner-Okotie that Jasento Flowers should not have been released on bond after the alleged Walmart assault. Family members say that error cost Bridgette Flowers her life.
