MACON, Ga. — A Macon man is in jail after the Georgia Bureau of Investigation and other agencies seized guns, nine ounces of meth and 100 suspected fentanyl pills, according to a press release from the GBI.
They say the arrest is the result of a 6-month-long investigation, which cumulated in a April 29 traffic stop and the arrest of 32-year-old Tavish Faulks.
During the traffic stop, they seized what they believe to be 100 fentanyl pills, 9 ounces of meth and marijuana, the press release said. They say they recovered two handguns during the stop.
Authorities then searched an apartment they say Faulks was associated with. They then found more guns there, the GBI said.
Faulks was arrested after the traffic stop and charged with drug trafficking, giving false information to law enforcement and a charge of violating his probation, jail records show. However, the GBI says that additional charges are pending.
The stop was part of the GBI's "Middle Georgia Gang Task Force," which they say is geared towards making "an impact on the current street-level drug distribution and gang activity in Macon, Bibb County and promote a safer place for productive citizens."
The GBI says you can report drug and gang activity to the Bibb Sheriff's Office at 833-486-8477 or the Middle Georgia Gang Task Force at 478-207-1301.
The release does not say how Faulks landed on the radar of the authorities, but the traffic stop was part of a multi-agency operation, the GBI says. The GBI says the Peach County Sheriff's Office and the Georgia State Patrol were also involved in the case.
